Our story
Who we help, and what we're built to fix
Bath Roofing Repairs was established in 2004 and is run by Luke Watts. The customers we work for are mostly homeowners and landlords who have found water where it should not be: a stain spreading across a bedroom ceiling, damp beside a chimney breast, a slate in the front garden after a windy night, and want a straight answer about what caused it and what it costs to put right.
The work splits two ways. Repairs are the day-to-day: leak tracing, slipped and cracked tiles, ridge and verge repointing, chimney flashings, leadwork, guttering, flat roof failures and roof windows that were never flashed correctly. Re-roofing is the other half, despite the name, we strip, re-felt, re-batten and re-cover complete roofs where repeated patching has stopped making financial sense.
Twenty-two years on the tools in this part of Somerset means the roofs are familiar before we arrive. Georgian and Victorian terraces in Bath with natural slate, stone tiles and tall stacks. Post-war semis and 1960s estates in Keynsham and Trowbridge on concrete tiles. Stone-built period property around Bradford-on-Avon and Frome. Exposed valley properties in Saltford where ridge mortar and flashings give up first.
We cover Bath, Bristol, Keynsham, Saltford, Bradford-on-Avon, Trowbridge, Frome, Radstock, Midsomer Norton and the villages between them. If you are just outside that, call and ask: it is a short conversation rather than a guessing game.
Mission and the standards we hold to
The aim is simple: fix the cause, not the symptom, and leave the customer knowing exactly what was done and why. Every job starts with an inspection, because a price given over the phone for a roof nobody has looked at is a guess that gets corrected later at your expense.
“I started this roofing business to provide quality roofing services to my community. I take pride in my work and always make sure the job is done right. My goal is to make sure every customer is happy with the work we provide.”
The standards in practice
Fixed prices, not day rates. The figure is agreed in writing before anything starts. If something genuinely unforeseen appears once a covering is lifted, you are told and asked before extra work goes ahead.
The person who quotes is the person who works. Bath Roofing Repairs is a one-man band with extra hands brought in for larger jobs. Nothing is lost between a salesman, an estimator and a crew who have never seen the property.
Methods chosen for the roof, not for speed. Moss is cleared by hand rather than pressure-blasted, because blasting drives water under tiles and strips their surface. Ridge mortar is raked out rather than skimmed over. Lead is formed properly instead of being sealed with mastic and hope.
Honest scope. If a repair will do, we say so rather than selling a re-roof. If the roof is past economical repair, we say that too and price both options where it makes sense.
Insurance and guarantees
We hold public liability insurance up to £1,000,000. We do not currently hold trade accreditations, so you will not find badges on this site that do not belong there. Guarantee lengths have not been confirmed for publication, so rather than print a number we cannot stand behind, we list it as not provided, ask on the inspection and you will get the actual answer for your job.
